Richard Chippman< no role > of Baines Court Cold Bath Fields
in the said County Milk Carrier one of the Bail for the
said Defendant (Maketh Oath and saith that the above
named Defendant was Indicted in October Session last and
since that time this Deponent saith that he has taken a
Journey to Portsmouth and other Parts of the Country at a
great Expence where this Deponent was Informed the said
Defendant was to be to be found in Order to Produce
him to this worshipful Court (as one of his Bail) to take
his Tryal in the said Prosecution But could not gain
any Intelligence about him a untill on or about the
Twentieth day of September last When this Deponent saith
that he made diligent enquirey of several Persons in
the neighbourwood of Horseley Down Southwark And
Particularly of Mary Smith< no role > Persons Intimately Acquainted
and well known to the said Deft that he Died on Board
of Ship on his Voyage to Jamicia Which Information
this Deponent saith that he verily believes to be
true And under such circumstance this Deponent
humbly hopes this Worshipful Court will be Pleased
to respite his recognizance Sine Die.
