The Voluntary Examination of John Thomas Porter< no role > to
John< no role > and WilliamGilbertGilbert< no role > -Grocers Chiswell Street,
Who Saith That about six Weeks since the Prisoner
Jeremiah Ganley< no role > first spoke to him about pro curing
him Tea. After he had helped him to some Tax, at
another interview, the said unless he could help him
to Sugar also he could not dispose of it so well. This
Examinant first brought him twelve or fourteen Pounds
weight of Tea 3/6. It was concerted tha Granley should
meet him in the Stret which he did At or about eight in
the Morning . at the gate of Charter House Square The
tea was in a Paper Bag cased with a Canvass Bag
there was no Conversation, He took the Tea and the
Examinant took his Cloaths- This Examinant saw
Ganley on the Sunday following at his own house. His
wife himself, and two Lodgers were at breakfast
Ganley called him out into the Yard, and told him
he could not sell the Tea without Sugar, saying at the
same he had been at the Borough and had disposed of
two pound. and also of some like quantities to
Neighbours But in Order to sell the rest he must
have Sugar to sell a long with it-This Examinants
said he could not get any-Ganley said I am sure
you can, try-ThatthisGanley on Sunday three weeks agofortnight
brought his Cloaths as Usual, Ganley asked him at the
Door if he had got any Sugar Examinant answered
no-The Prisoner asked him if he could call at his
House tha day, which this Examinant did about
twelve 'oClock, and he asked him again to bring him
some Sugan-This examinant carried the Prisoner
a Loaf of Sugar about fourteen Pounds weight on
last Sunday fortnight to the best of his belief.-
This Examinant occollects he brought the Prisoner
two Papers of Starch, one or two Sundays before this
and some prices of Soap, some Yellow and some
mottled, and that the Pice of Soap now produced
is part that he carried him, On Sunday
