List by Symond
The Circumstances under which the Parish of Saint Mary Staining
have preferred and hope to support
this Appeal Arise out of the Examination as stated by the Parties to have been given on Oath before the Majestrates
andon which the Order of removal is founded And the mother first States these fasts That in the month of
August 1786 she lived with her mother in
Bedford Street
Liquor pond Street
being then with Child of the
Illigitimate Child in Question That being very near her lying in she was removed on the 10th. of August 1787.
almost in a State of Labour to
No 8
Lilly pot Lane
Noble Street
then kept by one Sumonds within the Parish
of Saint Mary Staining
and there she was in three days after Vizt. 13th. August 1787 delivered of the Child
That the lodging was provided by Mr Collins the Father for this express purpose That she continued so Ill during
the whole time she was there (which was only one Month) that she does not perfectly recollect all the circumstances
Bur she recollects perfectly that she was taken to and from the House by night and that it was in the month of
August 1787 and that the Child will be 7 years Old next August That the Child was taken from her within the
month by
Frances Wells< no role >
the nurse who hath ever since had the Child in her Care That she thinks the Land lords
name who kept the House was Symonds That on the 5th. of September 1789 she was married to
Richard
Jones< no role >
at the
Parish Church
of All hallows Barking near the Tower
These she says are the Facts to which
she has Sworn before the JusticesIt appears on a Subsequent Conversation with the Woman by the Officers
or the Parish of Saint Mary Staining That she is very in correct in her Account It is extra ordinary that she
should be so positive to the house having been brought there by night extreemly Ill and never out of the house
till taken away in another Coach by night at the end of a Month On being questioned as to what room she
was In she first says the one Pair of Stairs but being told that was not probable She says she believes the
2 pair the Garrett on being answered the Garrett was three pair Stairs She answers she was so Ill she cod.
not Recollect Upon her being asked if the Child was Christned she says not but was half Baptized by the
Clergyman of Saint Sepulcres
(which cod. not be out of his Parish) She further says that when she was before
the Parish Officers of St Leonard That she cod. not Recollect the name of the Parish where the Child was
Born That the Vestry Clerk Read a long list of Parish's over to her at first she fixed on Saint Mary
Woollnorth
but being told that it could not be there she at length fixed on Saint Mary Staining
The Improbibility and in con [..] ney of her whole Story it is presumed will shake very
much her Credibility And added there to is the positive Contradiction as to her having been delivered of a Child
at any period within 10 Years in the House

Lilly pot Lane
At Lady day 1784 the House was taken by
Christopher Hallpike< no role >
who continued to Inhabit the same down to the year 1792 And during all that period
there is the positive Testimony of Mr. Hallpike and his wife that no such circumstance ever happened at
their HouseThen it is impossible the Child being under 7 Years of Age & more than we cod. have been born in the House
The much for the Testimony of the Mother
The Nurse Frances Wells< no role >
says she lives in the Parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch
that about 7 Years ago she went to the House
