The parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch in the County of Middlesex

Brief on the Appeal of Saint Mary Staining against the Order of Removal of P Colquhoun
and Wm. Browne< no role > Esqr . Two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace of the County of Middlesex

The Order of Removal States That complaint having been made to the said two Justices of the Peace (one
being of the Quorum) By the Churchwardens and Overseers fo the Poor of the Parish of St. Leonard Shoreditch That
William< no role > aged six year and upwards the Illigitimate Child of Sarah Jones< no role > wife of Richard< no role > (late Sarah Jackson< no role > Single woman )
had come to inhabit in the Parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch not having gained any legal settlement And was became chargeable
to the same The said Justices upon Examination of the premises upon Oath and other circumstances did adjudge the
same to be true And did also adjudge the Place of the last legal Settlement of the said William the Illigitimate Child
of the said Sarah Jones< no role > (late Sarah Jackson< no role > singlewoman ) to be in the Parish of Saint Mary Staining near Noble Street
London aforesaid in Right of his Birth The said Justices did therefore require the Church wardens and Overseers of
the Poor of the said Parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch on sight there of to remove and Convey the said Wm. the
Illigitimate Child of the said Sarah Jones< no role > (late Sarah Jackson< no role > Singlewoman ) from and out of the said Parish of Saint
Leonard unto the said Parish of St Mary Staining and him deliver unto the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor
there or to some or one of them together with the said Order or a Copy thereof who were thereby Required to
Receive and provide for him according to law Given under their Hands and Seals the 30th. day of June 1794

The Petition and Appeal States That by an Order or Pass Warrant under the Hands and Seals of P
Colquhoun and WBrowne Esqr. Two of his Majestys Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex bearing
date the 30th day of June 1794 Wm aged 6 years upwards the Illigitimate Child of Sarah Jones< no role > wife of Richd.
(late Sarah Jackson< no role > Singlewoman ) was Removed and Conveyed from and out of the Parish of Saint Leonard
Shoreditch in the said County to the said Parish of Saint Mary Staining London as the Place of the last legal
Settlement of the said Illigitimate Child

That the Petitioners conceive themselves agreived by such Order
of Removal And therefore pray the Justices at their Quarter
Session To examine into hear and determine the circumstances
of the Birth and settlement of the said Illigitimate Child
And that the said Order of Removal may be quashed And that
as day may be Appointed in this present Session for hearing
and determining this Appeal
