precautions to be pursued(Vizt.)

That all the Beds in the sick ward of Clerkenwell Bridewell
should be repaired and new stuffing be supplied taking care to have
the Ticking well aired.

That every Bed should be supplied with a new Rug where
wanted and if any additional covering may be necessary for the Sick
that the same be supplied upon a certificate from the apothecary .

It appeared to your Committee that many of the disorders are
occasioned by the prisoners coming in, in a weak and debilitated
state of health covered with Rags and Vermin, and that if some dress
or uniform was provided for them to wear in the prison it might be
the means of presenting many of the disorders incident to prisons.

It was therefore the opinion of this Committee, That a Dress
consisting of a Jacket and Trowsers, and a pair of shoes and two
shirts, where it may be necessary, be provided for the Men.

And that a Jacket and petticoat and shoes and two shifts
for the women be also provided.

That it be requested of Mr Staples to provide the above
necessaries, upon a certificate from the Apothecary .

And your Committee farther resolved, That the Cloaths in which
the prisoners come in should be Baked, numbered and laid by where
necessary.

And the Governor to take care when the prisoners first come in
that they be washed and cleansed and property cleared from Fifth
and vermin, and if the present Bath will not answer that a temporary
Bath or Bathing Tub be provided, and that the oil of Tar be
used in such way as the Apothecary shall direct.

That the same resolutions extend to the New Prison so
for as the same are necessary.

That at a subsequent meeting of the Committee held
the 19th of January Messrs Gibbs and Chamberlaine attended your
