The Report of the Committee appointed to
enquire into the State of the sick in the New prison
and House of Correction Clerkenwell
The Gaoler
of the House of Correction
and the Keeper
of the new
prison
clerkenwell
severally declared that they had no prisoners detained
in prison for Fees only.
The Apothecary
Mr Gibbs and Mr Chamberlayne his
assistant
delivered in detail, an account of the Hate of Health of the
prisoners; then they subscribed the Following certificate (Vizt)
"That there has been indeed and still exists a Fever in
"Clerkenwell Bridwell
, and from which no Prison where so many
"are confused can be quite Freebut it is not of a nature
"particularly malignant and not of that sort which is termed
"the Jail distemper
