The usual order for the election of Chairman, but without

The Chairman informed the Court that since the last
Session, to wit an the 20th. day of August last, the first
stone of the New intended Session House for this County
[..]
[..] was laid by his grace the Duke of Northum berland
bustes Rotutorum of the county
at the request and in
the presence of a
[..] great number of the Commissnrs.
appointed for building the said Session House that for performing
the Ceremony
[..] the Duke had provided, at his own exepence
a Mallet made of Silver, and that immediately after
the Caremony was over his Grace had in the most solite
and obliging manner delivered the said Mallet to
the Chairman as a persent to
with august thathis Majestys Justices
of the peace
for this County with request that they would accept there of and
presence the same
as a immediate of its application and as a destimonial of the went and
for the use of their Chairman for the time being as a
Hammer of instrument for the purpose of Keeping
Order: And the Chairman farther informed the Court
that he had caused the following inscription to be engraur
in the Mallet to perpeluate the remembrance of the gift
and the uses to whick it had been and was to be applied
