by running away avoided the Blow coming on his Head and it falling on the
Petitioners back it hurt him very much and the said Mrs Freeland did without
any cause whatsoever strike the Petitioner with a large Ruler covered with Brass
in a very violent manner she has at other times cruelly beat and knocked down
the Petitioner That another time on the Petitioners refusing to eat stinking meat
and musty Bread the said George Freeland< no role > beat the Petitioner with a thick
rope in a very violent and desperate manner and at another time the Petitioner
refusing to eat of a Stinking Shoulder of Mutton in which there were Maggotts
the said George Freeland< no role > refused to give him any other victuals That on the 6th
January last the said George Freeland< no role > without any cause knock at the Petitioner
down and beat him very much and turned the Petitioner out of Doors and ordered
the Petitioner to take away his things and go about his Business and that the
Petitioner should not continue there any longer and thereupon the Petitioner left
the service of the said George Freeland< no role > and went to his father where he has continued
ever since That the said George Freeland< no role > is frequently intoxicated with Liquor
and often swears in a most blasphemous and wicked manner and is in every
respect a very improper Person to have the care of an Apprentice and praying
to be discharged from his Apprenticeship Etc which said Appeal stood duly adjourned
unto this day Now upon hearing the said Appeal in the presence and hearing of the
said Petitioner Peter Kearnan< no role > and the said George Freeland< no role > and what hath been
alledged by them their respective Counsel and Witnesses in and conserning the premises
and it appearing to this Court that the substance of the said Petition is true It is ordered
by the Court that the said Peter Kearnan be and he is hereby absolutely discharged from
his said Apprenticeship to the said George Freeland< no role > and It is further ordered that
the said George Freeland< no role > do forthwith pay or cause to be paid unto the Thomas Kearnan< no role >
the Father of the said Peter Kearnan the sum of twenty one pounds the fee acceived
by him the said George Freeland< no role > as an Apprentice fee with the said Peter Kearnan< no role > In
Testimony whereof we four of the said Justices present in the said Session at the making
of the said order of discharge as aforesaid have hereunto set our hands and Seals the
twenty fourth day of June-in the eighteenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord
George the third King of Great Britain Etc and in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and seventy eight
