Maketh Oath that early in the morning of Friday the 26th. day
of August last the said Defendant (or hearing of the death
his Father who lived at Exeter
in the County of Devon
and
that his presence was immediately wanted there and his Interest
much concerned on this Event) set out in the Coach for Exeter
aforesaid on the Occasion aforesaid and on no other Occasion or
account as this Deponent believes and this Deponent ways that
on Wednesday last this Deponent received a Letter by the Post
[..] said Husband desiring her to write an account of the
time [..] would be necessary for him to be up to plead & try his
Traverse to this Indictment which he actuallly intended to be
up in time to do as this Deponent verily believes And this
Deponent further says that her said Husband is not yet returned to
