To the Worshipful Sir John Hawkins< no role > Knight , Chairman ,
and the rest of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for
the County of Middlesex in their General Quarter Sessions
of the Peace Assembled.

The Humble Petition of Samuel Drake< no role > .

Humbly Sheweth
That by an Act passed in the last Session of Parliament,
For the further and better Regulation of Buildings and party Walls,
and for the more effectually preventing Mischiefs by Fire within
the Cities of London and Westminster , and other Places in the said Act mentioned certain Persons skilled in the
Art of Building are to be Nominated and Appointed Surveyors, to
See the Rules and Regulations in the said Act mentioned well and
truly observed.

That Your Petitioner Served his Clerkship with, and has
been for 24 Years past in the Service of James Paine< no role > of Salisbury
Street Esqr , Architect, during which time he has been conversant
in the Several Branches of Building

That your Petitioner humbly presumes himself Qualified
for undertaking and performing the intended Employment of a
Surveyor under the said Act.

Your Petitioner therefore most humbly Prays
Your Worships will be pleased to Nominate and Appoint him
one of the Surveyors to see the Rules and Regulations in the
Said Act mentioned wall and truly observed within such
District of the County as Your Worships may be pleased to
allot to him.

And Your Worships Petitioner Shall ever Pray & Etc. Saml Drake< no role >
