These are to Certify to the Worshipful Sir John Hawkins< no role >
Knight , Chairman, and the rest of His Majesty's Justices
of the Peace for the County of Middlesex Assembled in their
General Quarter Sessions of the Peace, That Mr, Samuel Drake< no role >
who now offers himself a Candidate to be Nominated & Appointed
a Surveyor under the Act passed in the last Session of Parliament
for the better Regulation of Buildings in London and Westminister &
That he the said Samuel Drake< no role > did serve his Clerkship with,
and has been for 24 Years past in my Service, during which
time he has been conversant in the Several Branches of Building,
And from the Knowledge of I have of his Qualification in
every respect for undertaking and performing the intended
Employment under the said Act, and the great experience
I have had of his Good Behaviour, Integrity, and Fidelity, I
take the liberty of Recommending him in the strongest manner
to the Notice of your Worships as a Person highly deserving of
Your honour at the ensuing Election.
