The Indre is Admitted to be dated as in Petn: & in the Comon form but as the binding is but for Five Years
It's Apprehended that it is not Srech abinding as is directed by the 5th of Elizth which ought to be for 7 years so
that this binding may be Considered only as a Private Agreement between the Parties And if it shod be
so Considered then it's Apprehended that the Court have not a power to hear or determine any thing Concerning
it to at if the Court shod be of opinion that they have a power to hear & determine it we Answer the Several
Charges in the Petition as follows

As to the Religion it's Admitted to be as in Petn: But it Certainly must have been known to both
the Appr & her father before the appr was bound for that she was Six weeks on liking before binding and
Consequently must know in that time what Religion her Master & Mistress were and when the appr
first came on liking her father asked Mrs Carey if the appr was to go to Church with her Mrs Carey answered
that she was not to go to Church with her but she wod take Care that the appr shod have her proper times to go
to Church therefore by Mrs Carey's Answer it Might be understood that she was not of Our Church but no Questions
were asked about what her Religion was Notwithstanding their Religion it may very Safely be Sayed
that they are an Worthy Honest & well disposed people as any are they Beally being so

[..]

As to being Sent Out Late at Nights Mrs Carey does not Remember nor can Recollect ever Sending
the appr out late at Night to Carry home work & which some times is the Case when Work is finished late
without sending a Servant Maid with her she never Complained to her Mistress on this head nor did she
ever meet with any Accident But about three Months before Miss went away her father come to Mrs Carey
and Said that his Daur complained of Working too late at Nights & of being Sent Out at Nights & brot some person with
him who pretended to be of the Law who by his discourse greatly frightened & Terrified Mrs Carey (Mr Carey
then being in the west Indies ) who was then very far gone with Child and when she is ever so well she has not half
the Spirits or tongue of little Miss Mrs Carey then agree'd to every thing that her father required her hours
of working were then Settled & she was not sent out at Nights afterwards

As to the Ill usage & Correction Mrs Carey declares & so she is ready to Make Oath if Necessary
that she never Struck Miss while she was with her but wanting her one Morning about 9 o"Clock cod
not get her out of bed therefore her Mistress went & gave her a shove or pat of the shoulder which is
all the beating she ever gave her

As to the Charge of the Loss of the Money Mrs Carey Lost 2 Guineas out of her pocket & missing them
on Good Friday last being 1st april she did tax Miss & the maid Servant with having taken them but her
Suspicion was of the maid Servant because Miss lay in a Little Room behind Mrs Careys Bed Room
& the Maid Servant Came serveral times into Mrs Careys Bed Room that morning [..] & her
Pockets were in the way Mrs Carey did talk of a Magistrate to try if she could Make any discovery
but both the maid & Miss positively denyed knowing any thing of the Money & the maid turned out her
Pocket & Miss did the same & there the Inquiry ended Mrs Carey lost her money but her Suspicion was not
if Miss as is evident for she sent her the next day into Lombard Street with near £40 which she wod not have done
