by council to manage his defence, and divers witnesses, namely
George Caffarey< no role > , Burford Camper< no role > , Thomas Wright< no role > , John Duncanson< no role >
and Robert Anderson< no role > , were then & there examined on oath in the
presence & hearing of the said Ralph Hodgson & his council, who
Cross examined them, and made objections from time to time, as they
saw occasion, but produced no witnesses on the part of him the said
Ralph Hodgson save & expect an affidavit of his own making which

he declined reading.

That according to the best of our judgments, the evidence [..]
support of the petition so far as it related to the several fac [..]
above stated was full clear and decisive; and therefore [..]
but think & look upon the said Ralph Hodgson as accessory to [..]
outrages & disorders aforesaid to the great disturbance of the public
peace & terror of his majesty's subjects; and do therefore apprehend [..] him

most unworthy and unfit to exercise or hold the office or authority of [..]
magistrate for this county.

In consequence of which opinion and determina-
tion, from motives of justice to the public; and
influenced by that reverence for the Governmt.
and laws of this country, which we ourselves
entertain, and it has been & is our constant endea-
