Delivery the Ld. Mayor us by Charter one of the Justices of
Gaol Delivery & they have us managed of late that in
Stead of & Middx Justices in that Comission which was ye
usual Number there is not now one and at the Gaol
Delivery the Kings Judges do not sit in right of then Office
out the Ld. Mayor in the sequence Judge and the Kings
Judges are in the opinions of the Citizens only His Assessors In short the temper of
the City has ever been to encreach & extend their jures
direction to the Utmost, they have the sole Government of
the Bore of South wark and by Charter may comit
Felon,s apprehended there in to Newgate (and thereby shipping the Co. of Surry of its natural & Juridns. wch by the
way may he also a reason with the City why that Bore Shod. also contributed
to the new proposed rebuilding of Newgate . They have lately
got an Act of Parliamt. impowering the Mayor to fix
the Assise of Bread thought out the Bills of Mortal wch.
taken in half the Co. of Middx and besides many other extentions of power
