In what Manner are the Orders therein
made?

They are entered by the proper Officer (the
Clerk of the peace ) of the City or the Clerk of
the Arraignment-& this appears to be entered
accordingly.

Order 25 May 1726 read for removing
Prisoners.

Admitted to be the Original.

Is it the practice for the Keeper of Newgate
at every Sessions to deliver to the Commrs.
of Gaol Delivery a Calender of Prisoners to
be tried and can any prisoner be tried
witht. being included in that Kalendar?

Yes such as are upon Recognizance
to appear and such as surrender during
the Sessions & many Committed during the
time of Sessions.

Can any other be tried but such as are
mentioned in the Calendar?

Some prisoners remain in the Gaol
for the County of Middlesex by the Indulgence

of

of Justices or an Account of Sickness who are
not inserted in the Calendar because they are
not removed to Newgate and so they do in the
Counters.

Are those prisoners removed to Newgate to be
ready for their Trial?

Yes-No other Gaol besides Newgate
deliver a Kalendar at present but it formerly
appears they did in pursuance of an Act of
Parlt.-The Counters are prisons for Debt
-but Felons are Confined there and sent to
Newgate in the same manner as from other
Gaols.

There is an Order from the Court at the
Old Bailey that no Indictment that came from
Hicks's Hall should be received at the Old
Bailey unless it is brought before 2 o' Clock
on the 2d. day of the Sessions-I beleive I
have the Order in my Custody if it was in
the Year 1733-But if I have it not it is
in the Custody of Mr. Thos. Benson< no role > who Acts
as Clerk of the Arraings at the Old Bailey .
