appropriated to the rebuilding or enlarging the
Gaol of Newgate?

I am well assured there's no such
Appropriation.

On which Side of the Sessions Ho. does the
Quad: lie as proposed for Debtors?

Cant say.

Was the £40,000 recl. of Old Materials?

I beleive it was.

Was any petition presented to parlt?

No.-reason Mr. Aldn. Dickinson
applied to the Chanr. of the Exchequer & was
informed that no public Money could be
spared-therefore dropt.

Out of what Fund the Money which have
been applied in repairing Newgate came?

Out of General Fund of the City.

Do you know at any Time a single Shilling
was applied out of Sheriffs Fines for those
purposes?

I beleive there has been none

Who used to repairNewgates.Ludgate?

The City.

Was there any Fund appropriated to rebuild or
repair the Gaol of Ludgate .

I beleive none.

What prisoners confined in Ludgate?

Freemen of London .

Was Ludgate were he built at the City's Expence?
Can's say.

-After the Fire of London . Grant from parlt.
to repair & rebuild Gates.

Whether there was not in 1733 a laye Sum
laid out in repairing Ludgate?

Yes-at the City Expence-can't say as
to the Sum.

Whether if the Ground between Newgate
& the Sessions House was turned into an Area
it would not be a Means of keeping them more
Sweet & healthy?
