At the General Quarter Session of the Peace of our Lord the King holden
for the County of Middlesex at Hicks Hall in Saint John Street in the said
County (by Adjournment) on Thursday the Third day of May 1764 in the
Fourth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third of Great
Britain Etc Before Thomas Lane< no role > , Esquire Right The Honble John Lord Viscount Dudley< no role >
and Ward George Errington< no role > Stephen Clarke< no role > Esquires and others their
Fellows Justices of our Said Lord the King Assigned to keep his Majestys
Peace in the County aforesaid and also to hear and Determine divers
Felonies Trespasses and other Misdemeanors committed in the same County

Whereas the Churchwarden and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint John at
Wapping Have Exhibited their Petition and Appeal to this Court Setingforth that by Virtue of
a Pass Warrant under the hand and Seal of Benjamin Cox< no role > Esquire one of his Majestys Justices of
the Peace for the County of Middlesex bearing date the thirteenth day of March two last past
Edward William Johnson< no role > was removed from the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields within the Liberty
of Westminster in the County of Middlesex (as a Rogue and Vagabond Vizt. wandering and begging in
a loose idle and disorderly manner contrary to the Statute in that Case made and provided) to the
Parish of St. John Wapping in the County of Middlesex adjudging that to be the last legal place
of Settlement of the said Edward William Johnson< no role > Whereby the Petitioners conceived themselves
to be aggrieved Now upon hearing of the said Appeal and what hath been Alledged on either side by the
respective Churchwardens and Overseers their Council and Witnesses in and concerning the
Premess It is Ordered by this Court that the said Appeal be and the same is hereby Allowed and the said
Pass Warrant of the said Justice is hereby Quashed and Vacated And it is further Ordered by
this Court that the said Churchwardens and Overseers of thesaidpoor of the said Parish of St. John
at Wapping or some or one of them do forthwith send back the said Edward William Johnson< no role >
(together with a Copy of this Order) unto the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of
the said Parish of St. Martin in the Fields within the Liberty of Westminster who are hereby
required to receive and provide for him untill they can Free themselves from the Charge
thereof by due course of Law
