taken before me this 9th.. day of Janry 1763

Who being upon Oath says that he know Joshua Pass< no role >
Thomas Todd< no role > , both now present and William Higgins< no role > not
yet Taken, says that they all four lately lodged at a House near
the Ship and Starr in Eastsmithfield , says that on Monday
Morning last, he this Informt. the said Pass, Todd & Higgin
(being in great distress) they all consulted and agreed together
to go and Robb Ships in the River of Thames in order
to raise Money, says they accordingly detent together, for this proper
and finding the Ship Rose Captain Christopher Dench< no role >
lying at For game Ways on the Surrey Side without any
Person on Board of her, they agreed to Robb the said Ship
of what Goods they con'd find and move off, says that at this
Time Higgins had a sore Legg and went into an Apothecaries Shop
for some Salve for it, during which Time the said Pass
broke open the Cabbin of the said Ship and Stole thereout
a white Bagg which he believes contained Linen and Apparell
says the said Pass and Todd then Joined Higgins and went away
with the said Bagg, bidding this Informt. to go back and [..] get
some Goods out of said Ship, says that he did return back
in Order to get some goods, but was affraid to venture, therefore
went towards his Lodgings, and the same day met with his
three Companions [..] who told him they had sold
their Goods for three half Crowns, but refused to give him
any part of the Money, telling him that he had got
more goods than they had himself, and at the same time said
Pass and Higgins told this Informant, that they had
been a second Time on Board the aforesaid Ship and missed
a Coat and Waistcoats which they imagined he had Taken
