Joinlly and Severally make
Oath and say That they appeared at Westminster
last
Sessions and found a Bill of Indictment against above
named Mary Becket< no role >
for feloniously stealing some
Wearing apparell the Property of these Deponent which
Indictment was returned last sessions into this Court
and they Intended to have prosecuted the same and they
appeared in this Court the first day of the sessions and Stayed
the whole day in hopes and Expectation of the said Cause
comeing on and the next day they attended for several
hours, but the said Deponent William Runting< no role >
's business
Necessaries obligeing him to attend Three or four hours
that day on the Duty of his office, without which his
Majestys Revenues would have Suffered and he the said
Deponent would have run the risque of looseing his
Place he this Deponent went and did his Duty and
hastened back the Same day with his Wife to this Court
to have given their Evidence when they were Informed
that the said Cause had been Called on and the Defendant
acquitted and their Recognizance ordered to be estreated
But they both say that their Neglect did not arise from
any Corruption or Wilfull Default or from the least
Intention to incur any Contempt or Displeasure of
this Court or to Defeat Justice and that they are
heartily Sorry for the accident
