To the Worshipfull Bench of his Majesties Justices
of the Peace assembled at Hicks Hall in and for the
County of Middlesex

The Humble Petition of Mary Prigg< no role > of the Parish of Saint
Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex Widow

Sheweth


That your Petitioner being Sitting in her own
appartment in Saint Giles on Thursday the Thirteenth day of
September last in the Evening, One Edward Jones< no role > who deals in Old
Iron Rags Etc. came into her appartment and without any manner
of Provocation assaulted your Petitioner in a Violent manner by
Striking her Several Blows on the Head & face by one of which
blows he strucly two of her teeth Quite out and loosened others and
otherwise greatly Abused her so that she languished in a very bad
manner for a Considerable time

That same time after your Petitioner had been so assaulted
she was recommend to One Jnr. John Ambler< no role > who Sollicits business at
this Court who Undertook to carry on a Prosecution for your Petitioner
and who got a Bill preferred against the said Edward Jones< no role > at the last
Quarter Sessions which Bill was found a true Bill and a Certificate
thereof was Obtained from the Clerk of the Peace and Mr. Ambler
procured a Warrant thereupon and your Petitioner was Informed that
Bail was put for the said Edward Jones< no role > before the Worshipfull
Justice Welch

That your Petitioner is in Indigent Circumstances and Mr.
Ambler promised her to go through the whole proceedings for her But
although your Petitioner hasseveral timesAttended him by his
Directions Several times with her Witnesses to give him Such
Account of the affair as was proper to Instant Councel with he
has not so done whereby your Petitioner is afraid that she will not
have the Tryal brought on in a Proper Manner

Your Petitioner therefore most humbly prays that your
Worships will be pleased out of your wanted
goodness in Consideration of your Petitioners
Poverty Order your Petitioners Tryal to be
brought on

And your Petitioner as in duty bound will
Ever pray Etc.
