To the Worshipfull the Chairman and others his Majesty's
Justices of the Peace for the County of Middx at this Present
General Quarter Sessions at Hicks Hall assembled

The Humble Petition of Sarah Plumpton< no role >
Widow , and Mother of Ann Plumpton< no role > , an Infant

Sheweth


That your Petrs. Daughter Ann Plumpton< no role > an Infant aged about
Eleven years was by Indenture of Apprenticeship bound out by the
Parish of Saint Luke in the County of Middx , in the Year One Thousand
Seven Hundred and Forty Nine to One William Sumner< no role > of St. Leonard
Shoreditch in the said County upholesterer

That During the time the Child has been put an Apprentice
She has been most Crully, Beat and Barbarously used, Half Starved
and not allowed the common necessarys to Support Humane
Nature, so that had it not been. for the Neighbours assissting and
giving the Infant Charity, it must have Perished

That this Usage has been continually repeated, has been
Beat Wounded and Treated in such a manner That when
inquired into by your Worshipps, your Petr. humbly presumes
you'l releive her

She therefore most humbly begs that you
would be Pleased to Consider the Melancholy
Scitution the Child is in and that unless
your Worships, should be Pleased to make
such Order in the Premisses, that the
Child should be discharged from the Indre
it must still Labour under the Greater
Hardships. Humbly submitting to your
Directions

And is in Duty bound to pray
