The humble petition of Mary Chandler< no role >
Sheweth
That Your Petitioner being a Poor Child was at the Age of
to Years on the 19th. of April 1749 by & with the Convent of the then Church
Wardens & Overseers of the poor
of the Parish of St Luke
in this County, bound
to
John Smith< no role >
of the said Parish & County Broker, to serve him as an Apprentice
untill Your Petitioner should Attain the Age of 21 Years or be married which
should past happen, to Learn House wifery
That soon after the time of Your Petitioners being so bound an
Apprentice the said John Smith< no role >
Committed Several Assaults upon Your
Petitioner with an Intent to Ravish her, for which Offence the said John
Smith< no role >
was Indicted and found guilty at the last General Sessions of
the Peace held at Hicks's Hall
aforesaid in & for the said County of
Middlesex
and was Sentenced by the Court to pay a Fine of £20 and
Suffer 3 Months Imprisonment and Your Petitioner being now
Maintained by the said Parish of St. Luke
in the Parish
Workhouse
.
Your Petitioner therefore Humbly Prays that she
may be Discharged from her said Apprenticeship
or that
the said John Smith< no role >
may by order of this Court be compelled
to Turn your Petitioner Over for the Remainder of the
time to Come of the said Indenture to some person of her own
Chooseing that is Willing and Capable to Maintain and
Provide for her
And Your Petitioner as in Duty bound shall Ever Pray,
