WHEREAS upon Information given unto the Court of the last General Quarter
Sessions of the Peace holden for this County by Adjournment, on Thursday
the Twelfth Day of January last, that the deputies and Agents of Thomas
Robe
< no role > and John [..] Esqrs : Clerk of the Market of his Majest's House-
[..] men and
Ale-house-keepers in the said [..] , under pretence of weighing of their Weights and
measuring of their Quarts, Pints, and other Measures, and that Such proceeding was illegal
and oppressive, and could not be justify'd; and the said Mr. Robe being than present, and in-
fifting on the legality of their Proceedings, by virtue of the Patent granted of the Office
of Clerk of the said Market to him and the said Mr. Matthews, The said Court upon read-
ing the aforesaid Patent, did Order, That the Consideration of the said Patent, and of the
extent thereof and of the Power and Authority thereby granted should be adjourn'd until
the County Day in this present General Sessions of the Peace for this County (to wit) this
present Thursday the Twenty third Day of February Instant, at two of the Clock in the
Afternoon. Now upon reading the aforesaid Patent, and upon debate had concerning the ex-
tent thereof, and the Power and Authority thereby granted, And upon hearing of what
was alledged by the said Mr. Robe touching the same, This Court upon Consideration had
of the Premisses, is of Opinion, that the said Patent or Grant doth not extend any further
than to the King's Palace and the Precincts thereof, commonly call'd the Little Virge, And
that Copies of the said Resolution or Opinion be forthwith deliver'd to the Justices of Peace,
and to all the high Constables of this County
