upon an Indictmt against Deft. for Extorcon

Indictmt Sets forth that Deft on the 14th day of June 7 & Geo. 2d. did at the Parish of St
Mary Matfellon othwise White chappell unlawfully Unjustly & extorsively demand receive & have
of one William Cole< no role > the Sum of 14d. of law full money of Great Britain
by colour of
being Servant & Agent to Thomas Robe< no role > & Charles Peter< no role > Esquires Clerk of the market
of the Kings Houshold [..] unlawfully Unjustly & extorsively did demand receive & have of one
William Cole< no role > the Sum of 14d. of law full money of great Britain for and as a Fee
for examining marking & Sealing Five quart pots made of pewter 7 pint potts made of
pewter and 2 half pint pots made of pewter wheras in truth there was then no such
Fee due to the said Edward Refitt or to the said Cl of the market in that behalf
To the great damage & oppression of the said William Cole< no role > and agt the peace Etc

The Office of Cl. of the market (as the same hath been excercised for several years
last past) has been a Great grievance & oppression to the Kings Subjects formerly [..]
till to abtagoe ofdiversconsiderableSums of money have been from time
to time [..] every year collected & received of persons using Weight & measures under pretence of viewing & examining

them

Such weights & measures to [..] the same had been before Sealed To prevent wd
