Upon reading a Report this Day made unto this Court by James Clither< no role >
Esqr Sr John Genson< no role > Knt. William Colesworth< no role > Thomas West< no role > & Philip
Willshire
< no role > Esqr being of the Comittee of his Maties Justices of the peace
for this County authorized by an Order made in May Sessions last
to treat with & contrast with workemen for repair of Such
Part of A publigu bridge called Chelsea bridge as is in this Paid
the Same being very humons and a considerable part thereof
being broken downe by the rottenness of the piles which
Supported the Same Soe that an imediate rebuilding of Such
part of the Said bridge as is in this County is absolutely necessary
It appeareth unto this Court that William Butler< no role > of New Brentford
in this County Carpenter & John Mills< no role > of the Parish of Littleton
in the Same County Carpenter have by Articles of Agreemt. bearing
Dated the thirteen day of June last under their hands & Seales made
between them of the One part and the Said Justices of the other
part covenanted & agreed for the Sume of Six hundred & Eighty
pounds well & Suficently to rebuild the aforesaid part of the Said
bridge with good & Sound Oaken Timber piles planks Trussell heads
posts Rails gravell Joyney worke painting Iron worke & all other
materially of the Scantlings and according to the method & Manner
Specifyed in the Accompt or Estimate written under the Said Articles
together with all other worke & Materialls as well not menconed
therein as Menconed in A good Substantiall & workman like Manner
and to compleat & finish the Same before the thirty first day of October
now next Ensueing (if the Same can be done & performed before that
time) Or as Soon after as the Same can be conveinently done And
to find Pvide & use good Sound & Sufficient Oaken Timber piles planks and
all other materialls in and about the doeing of the Said worke and to make
and prserve a convenient passage for foot passengers passing and
repassing over the Said bridge dureing the continuance of the Said
worke, They the Said William Butler < no role > and John Mills< no role > being at liberty
to use se Such of the Old timber & materialls as shall be assigned to
them by A Surveyor (to be appointed by the Said Justices to Survey
the Said worke) as Sound good & Sufficient to be used in the deems Strong
And the residme of the Old Timber and Materialls over & above
