< no role > Inhabitants of the same parish exhibited their humble peticon and
appeale unto this Court on Tuesday the Ninth day of July Instant
Setting forth that it hath been the Custome of the said parish time out
of mind for the Churchwardens & Overseers of the poor there together
with such Inhabitants who are of the Vestry to assemble on Assencion
day in order to make A Rate or Assessmt for reliefe of the poor in the
said parish after previous Notice first given and that contrary to the Custome of
the said Parish as aforesaid One of the present Churchwardens with
the Overseers have without Notice first given as aforesaid to such
Inhabitants who are of the vestry Pceeded to make A Rate for reliefe of
the poor there for this present yeare in A very unequall unprecedented
& illegall manner and have since the makeing of the same Rate by
falce misrepresentations obtained the confirmacon thereof by two of his
Maties Justices of the peace for this County And that the petrs
therefore conceiving themselves aggreived therein appealed against
the said Rate or Assessmt as being unequell & surreptihonsly obteyned,
the matter of which Appeale was appointed to be heard & determined
by this Court on this twelfth day of July Instant Now upon hearing
of what was insisted on by Mr Baynes & Mr Corbett of Councell for the
petrs. and alsoe by Mr Sers Darnall< no role > & Mr Northey of Councell for
James Gascoyne< no role > one of the Churchwardens & for the Overseers of
the poor of the said Parish, And upon debate of the Matters in que on
For the more Effestnall Settling an Equall & just Rate upon the
Inhabitants of the said Parish It is Ordered by this Court by the
consent of both parties that it be And It is hereby recomended and
