Chancellor of
Great Britain.

His Majesties Justices of the peace Assembled at this
present Generall Quarter Sessions of the Peace held for
this County upon consideration had of the Act of Parliamt.
made in the Ninth Year of his now Majestys Reigne
Intituled an Act to Oblige all Persons being Papists
in that part of Great Britain called Scotland and all
Persons in great Britain refusing or neglecting to take
the Oathes appointed for the Security of his Majestyes
Person and Government by Severall Acts therein
mentioned to Register their Names and Reall Estates
Whereby It is Enacted that all and every Person and
Persons whatsoever who shall be of the Age of
Eighteen Years or upwards not having already taken
the Oathes appointed to be taken in and by an At
made in the first Year of his Majestyes Reigne therein
particularly mentioned who shall neglect or refuse to
take the said Oathes on or before the Twenty fifth day
of December one thousand Seven hundred and twenty three
in any of his Majesties Court of Record at Westmr. or at
the Generall or Quarter Sessions for the County where
such Person or Persons shall live or Inhabit
shall incurr the Penaltyes therein mentioned being
Some of them of Opinion that they are empowered by the
said Act to Administer the said Oathes at a Quarter
Sessions onely and not at a Generall Sessions of the
Peace And that the Words at a Generall or
Quarter Sessions are Synominous termes And being
desireous to be directed in the Matter by the Right
Honourable the Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain
have desired Whitlock Bulstrode< no role > Esquire their
Chairman humbly to apply to his Lordshipp for
his Direction touching their Proceeding upon
the saidand whether they may not Administer
the said thes at a Generall Sessions of the
Peace as well as at a Quarter Sessions
