said any thing to me since Nicholson was taken
away, Heard some of the Prisoners during the
disturbance call out the Name of "Ben Caddick". and
"Maxwell".

Resolved That the Consideration of this business
be postponed till County Day of the next Session.

And if appearing unto this Court that the
Average number of Prisoners in the House of Correction
in Cold Bath fields since the last the Session has been
276.

That there are in the said House of Correction
202. separate Apartments which are made to contain
one Person each and Sixteen Apartments which hold
2. Prisoners each and that the Number of Prisoners on
the Average considerably exceed the number of
Apartments Ordered that the following Representation.
of the State of this Prison be made to the Lord Mayor< no role >
and Judges sitting at the Old Bailey in Order to prevent
any Accession of number being made from thence during
the present Session Vizt..

It Appearing to this Court that much Inconvenience
has Arisen from there being a greater number of Prisoners
Confined in the House of Correction for this County than the
Appartments provided for their Reception can contain
and that it has frequently been found necessary to put
two and sometimes even three Prisoners together into
Apartments only fit for the reception of One.

This Court therefore think it is proper to communi-
-cate an Account of the state of the Prison to the Lord Mayor< no role >
and Judges siting at the Court at the Old Bailey , and
to suggest to their Lordships that the Excess is principally
occasioned by the great number of Prisoners sent to the
Old Bailey under Sentences of very long Imprisonment
which has of late greatly encreased the number of Prisoners
that there are in the House of Correction only Two hundred
and two seperate Appartments which are made to Contain
