September 1800.

Turnkey he wanted to speak to the Governor and
determined he would tell him what he had heard,
as I was confined in my cell as well as they and
had nothing to do with it, the Governor said nothing
to induce me or the Turnkeys, has been in the Prison
Five Months next Wednesday, gave the Information
to Day about 3. o' Clock to Mr.. Chapman the Turnkey
when he let me out of my cell at Three. o' Clock to
Wash, never heard till last Night of the Intention
of the Prisoners to make an Alarm, there was a
Noise with Copping and others at Twelve o Clock on
Sunday night with talking, but did not know
what it was about, about half an hour after I
spoke to Chapman I saw the Governor who
asked me the Persons names which I told him, be
asked me no further but Ordered me to a cell by
myself, I had nothing there, in about half an
hour the Turnkey came for me again and brought
me into the Office and the Governor told me I
should wait to tell the Magistrates, I have had
nothing but a bit of bread and butter the cook gave
me,George Henry< no role > Farmer has repeatedly had
News Papers conveyed unto him with his Victuals
in which more skits respecting the Prison,
Smith and Edwards were confined in a cell on one
side of him and Scavenger in a cell on the other side
Copping opposite, Turner opposite Sully in next cell
to Smith and Edwards, Tanner was the first who
made the Alarm, the Singing and Clapping, began
in five Minutes after they were locked up, then
Turner said "lets sing out a free Gaol; and asked if
the others were ready who Answered. "yes". and then
gave three Huzzas, Thomas and Sully were the
most Active, it was agreed that they should change
their Names that they might not be known, and
particularly with Tanner, Copping and Sully, if
any of the Turnkey's were listening, one was to be
called My Lord, and such Nick names this was
their Conversation, but cant recollect what Names
they agreed, Tanner first proposed the Change of
Names to Sully, Ellwood desired them this Morning
