"upon a full Examination of the Governor and the
"several Officers and Servants belonging to the said
"Prison they have no reason to believe the Escape was
"effected by the wilful neglect or any Corrupt practice
"or Connivance of any Person entrusted with the
"Care of those Prisoners. It appears that notwith
"standing every precaution has been taken to
"prevent any Communication with Persons
"without the Prison that such Communication
"must have been had and by that means the
"Escape effected that some Persons must have been
"aiding and assisting without the Boundary

"to Aid the Escape-That Davies one of the Mutineers
"who Escaped must have Concealed himself in the
"Privy belonging to the Yard where those Prisoners
"were Confined and he had Artfully dressed up a
"Figure to represent himself in Bed when the keeper
"locked up the Door up his Cell and that in the night
"or early in the Morning with some Instruments
"procured for the purpose he wrenched off the outside
"Locks of Six of the Cells every Exertion has been
"made and still is making to discover those who
