Mr.. Aris the Governor of the House
of Correction was Examined and the Persons
who had the more immediate Care of the
Prisoners who Escaped and several other
Servants
belonging to the Prison were Examined
and also the Revd. Mr.. Evans the Chaplain to
the House of Correction who had used his
Endeavours to discover by what means the
Escape was Effected.
Resolved That a Letter be written
by the Clerk of the peace
to His Grace the Duke
of Portland
to the following Effect Vizt.

for the County of Middlesex

"General Quarter Session assembled to inform
"Your Grace that in Consequence of Your Graces
"Letter laid before the Court by William Mainwaring< no role >

of the Sessions they
"thought it proper to Order an Adjournment of
"the Sessions to be held at the New House of
"Correction for the said County to inquire into
"and more fully investigate the matter of Your
"Graces Letter with that of Mr.. Nepean's Letter
"sent by the direction of the Lords Commissioners
"of the Admiralty
respecting the Escape of Seven
"Persons confined in the House of Correction for
"the said County and under sentence of Death
"for Mutiny which Session was accordingly
"held in the presence of William Mainwaring< no role >
