"Sir

"The Governor of the House of Correction
"for the County of Middlesex having transmitted to
"me the particulars of the Escape of the Mutineers
"from that place; I am commanded by My Lords< no role >
"Comms of the Admiralty to send you herewith a
"Copy thereof and to desire you will be pleased to lay
"the same before the Duke of Portland and acquaint
"his Grace that their Lordships cannot help believing
"from the Representation of the Case that great blame
"is to be attributed to the Person or Persons who
"were changed with the Custody of the Prisoners in
"suffering their Escape in Order that his Grace may
"take such measures as may appear to him to be
"proper on the Occasion

"John King< no role > Esqr.

The Court having proceeded to inquire
into this Subject found that a Committee had
immediately Examined the Circumstances of this
Case upon the event taking place but the Court
thinking it expedient to Examine the Governor
and his Servants, Viva Voce.

Resolved That the further Consideration
of this Subject be adjourned until Monday next at
12. o'Clock at the House of Correction

By adjournment same Day.
