this business without loss of time and to acquaint him that the
Committee expect that the Boiler with all the necessary
Apparatus will be put up and the Work fully completed
before the next Meeting of this Committee

The Governor having stated to the Committee that the
two Cross Walls leading from the Lodge to the Office on the
East and West side in the New House of Correction was
found to be a hiding place for the Prisoners who are
permitted to work out of the Cells and that he was of Opinion
that it would be an advantage if they were taken down
and removed-Resolved That the Consideration of
this matter be postponed till the next Meeting of this
Committee

Adjourned to Monday Feby. 5th.

At this Meeting of the Committee the Governor
Reported that there are 252 Prisoners including 42
Mutineers Vizt. 203 Men and 49. Women.

The Governor also Reported that he had seen Mr..
Hopkins who complained that he had been retarded by
the neglect of the Workmen but that the Boiler should be
fixed before the County Day of the next Session.-Share the
pleasure to Report that it is actually fixed and that the
Work appears to be done in a very Complete manner It
will be in use next Week previous to which Mr.. Aris is
Ordered to get perfect Directions from the Foundling
Hospital and to make himself Master of the proper
methods of Managing the Boiler so as to make the
expected saving in the Article of Coals.

The Committee enquired of the Chaplain whether
any and what Care is taken at the New Prison to
