February 1787.

"into Consideration the difference it made to my Clients on Account of the Money
"not being paid when the Stocks were low & allowed them £100 on that Account
"I then promised I wou'd not give the Gentlemen any further Trouble & I have
"acted accordingly: It is true I have had some attendances on the Master in
"Chancery about settling the Report, & on that occasion the Master as well as the
"Sollicitors for the parties endeavoured to frame it so to avoid any objection on the
"part of the Gentlemen at the Sessions & so as to avoid making them personally
"responsible, But if they think any alteration can be made so as to make it
"more agreeable to them & be substantial Justice to the parties concerned I
"shall have no Objection - When the case is fully considered by them I flatter
"myself they will think it reasonable that some such Indemnity should be given
"to the parties (some of whom are obliged to work hard for a subsistence) If the
"Session cou'd be adjourned for a Week or Ten days & the surveyors for his Majestys
"Justices & for the parties were to meet upon this matter, perhaps they may be able
"to hit upon some plan that may make an end of the difficulty in which I beg you to
"assure the Gentlemen I shall as far as in my power be ready to acquiesce.

"I am, Sr.
"Your most Obt. Hble Servt.
"Wm. Bentley< no role > ".
