Resolved that this Court will now proceed to an enquiry into
the circumstances of the late escape of 31 Prisoners out of the House of
Correction
at Clerkenwell
-Whereupon Mr. Crozier the Governor of the House
of Correction at Clerkenwell
being called and informed of the above Resolution
he requested on account of his ill state of health that the Court would be
pleased to postpone the enquiry until the next of Session of the peace to be
holden for this County and it appearing to this Court that the said Mr.
Rogier is very ill It is Ordered that the enquiry into the circumstances
of the late escape of Prisoners out of the House of Correction
at
Clerkenwell
be postponed until the County and if the next Session of:
the peace to be holden for this County

next Sessions give answer in writing to the following Queries.
1st.What number of Servants are constantly employed by him for
the Government of the Prison and their respective Wages.
2dWhat is the respective Duty of each Servants
3d.What is the annual amount of the fees and profits of his Office.
4th.What species and quantity of work hath been done by the
prisoners in Clerkenwell Bridewell
since the time of his appointment
5th.Whether any use hath been made of the Bathing Rooms for the
washing and bathing the prisoners and of the Ovens for cleaning their Cloaths.
6th.What number of Prisoners have escaped since he came into
Office to the present period the times when, and the means by which the
escapes were effected.
7thWhether the whole on what number of Prisoners who have
escaped have been retaken and by what means.
8th.What rewards have been offered and paid for the apprehension
of such Prisoners as have escaped to what amounts and to whom:
