Samuel Wegg< no role > Esqr. Done of His Majestys Justices of the peace
acting in and for this County having given the Court here to understand
that on Sunday the 24th. day of November last Mr Henry Adams< no role > This name instance is in set 1591.
the Contractor for conveying Vagrants in their and out of this County
had sent to the Parish of Acton in their way to Denham several
Vagrants among whom was a Female that had died upon the
Road in her Passage thither from Islington that at his request
the Corners Inquest had sat upon the Body and had returned
their Verdict natural Death from weakness and want of necessary
and proper care or to that effect. That it appeared by the depositioner taken by the
Coroner the woman was extremely ill when at Mr. Adams house
at Islington that she had been lifted into the Cart into which she
was to be conveyed with others by two men and that between
Tyburn Turnpike and Bays watts she died in the Cart that the
driver being informed of the circumstance did neither stop or take the
least notice thereof until he arrived at Acton when he applied to
the Officer of the Parish for her Interment which coming to Majestys
Knowledge he directed an application to be made to the Coroner an
aforesaid That in the affair there appeared to him such a want
humanity and attention in the person concerned in conveying
Vagrants that he had determined and damed it his Duty to
lay the matter before the Court for their consideration and Edward
Umpeville
< no role > Esqr one of the Coroners for this County attending (who had
refused to convene and Inquest for enquiry into this Affair on the
Sunday altho' thereto required and for which neglect he had now
received Reprimand) produced the depositions taken before him
touching the death of the said female vagrant and which
depositions confirming Mr Weggs Account Mr. Adams are [..]
and being present he was informed of the above charge and the sd
depositions abovementioned aforesaid being read [..] taken before the
Corner

It is Ordered that a Committee be appointed to enquire
into the conduct of Henry Adams< no role > This name instance is in set 1591. touching the Late of Health of
Sarah Baylis< no role > a Vagrant whiles is in his custody and the
circumstances of her death as also into with the expence & manner of
supporting and conveying Vagrants in thro and out of this County
and to Report their opinion thereof to His Majestys Justices of their
peace in Session assembled.
