had been taken for the accomodation of the Soldiers as a Guard how
that some time about the 8th. 29th day of April March 1782 His Majestys Justices
of the Peace not thinking the Military Guard further necessary had
signified the same to the Commanding Officer and [..] the Guard had
been withdrawn accordingly but the Sheriff having applied for and
obtained on account of his Debtors being confined in the House of Correction
a renewal of the Guard undertook to be at all expence attending it the
Guard House from that time till nearly the present had been therefore made use
of by the Sheriffs guard the Sheriff was consequently liable to the
payment of the Rent for the same [..]
[..] .

Ordered that application be forthwith made of the late
Sheriffs for this County on other proper persons for the payment of the
said Rent as well as for any other expences incurred by this County
in respect to the security and maintenance of the Sheriffs prisoners
in the House of Correction at Clerkenwell & New Prison .

By adjournment same day.

It appearing unto this Court that the Debtors which were
confined by the Sheriff in the House of Correction at Clerkenwell have
since the last Session of the Peace for this County been removed from the
said Prison unto New Prison at Clerkenwell and that it is highly
necessary to devise some means of keeping the Prisoners in the House
of Correction to hard Labour.

Ordered that it be and it is hereby recommended to Mr
Chairman against the next Session of the peace to be holden for this
County to consider of a [..] plan for keeping the Prisoners in
the House of Correction at Clerkenwell to have Labour And it is further
Ordered that order of Court made at the Session of the Peace holden for
this County in the Month of January last in respect to the allowance of [..]
penny half penny per diem to each Prisoner [..] House of Correction
during the time only he or she performs hard Labour and which order
was suspended at the last Session be and the same is hereby further
suspended until the County day of the next Session of the peace to be
holden for this County.

By adjournment same day.

It being moved that Sectn. 8 in an Act of Parliament made and
passed in the 22d. Year of the Reign of his present Majesty entitled "An Act for the
"amending and rendereing more effectual the Same in being relative to
"Houses of Correction" be now read which passing in the Affirmative [..]
said Session was read as follows Vizt.
