support the Bridge two stone piers and a new abutment were
to be built on which a New Timber Superstructure should be
Erected nor unless at a [..] Events the Ayte Situate above the [..]
on the Surry side or a great part thereof were to be out away and
Removed but as by Experience it is found that few timber Bridge
endure longer than Twenty Years and even not so long without
very Considerable Expence for Repairs and as from the [..]
State of the Timber piles belonging to the present Bridge it
appears that no Timber pile can long resist the frequent [..]
Violent Shocks which in this Situation it must unavoidably
receive from the very heavy barges that are Commonly and
daily Navigated through the said Bridge Your Committee
do recommend the removal of the present Bridge and the
Erection of a New Stone Bridge in its place and as [..]
Paine has with great house obligingly formed a plan [..]
New Bridge and an Estimate of the Expence on the part, the
County of Middlesex of Erecting the same which amounts to
the Sum of £3300 and which plan is hereunto annexed
This Committee do recommend the Erection of a Stone Bridge
according to the said Plan and Estimate. But as no per [..]
Erection or Regular Plan can be carried into Execution without
the Concurrence and Cooperation of his Majestys Justices of the
peace for the County of Surrey The Committee do recommend [..]
it to his Majestys Justices of the peace for the County of Middlesex
to appoint a deputation of their own body to wait upon the
Gentlemen in the Commission of the peace for the County of
Surry at their next Sessions of the peace or at some adjournment
thereof or as soon as may be Convenient to Confer with them [..]
Erecting such Stone Bridge according to the plan approved of
by this Committee or any other plan that may be Jointly agreed
upon by the Justices for Surry and Middlesex

And the said Committee also Report
that they are of Opinion upon an Actual Survey and Admeasurement
of the Ayte above the Bridge on the Surry side that in order to
lessen the Weight of Water upon the Campshotting and the
