Justice instead of eight Shillings for which he had been so Summoned
the said Justice demanded of him the sum of fifteen Shillings and six
pence which the said Thomas Terry< no role > was obliged to pay before he could
be discharged which Summons Warrant Fees and Proceedings Your
Committee are of opinion are extortionate illegal and oppressive in the
highest degree

The following Warrant under the hand of the said John Gretton< no role >
Esquire being laid before Your Committee Vizt

to wit
To all Constables and other his Majestys Officers
of the Peace for the said County City and Liberty whom
these may Concern

These are in his Majesty's Name to Command You and every of you
upon sight hereof to take and bring before one or some other of his Majesty's
Justices of the Peace for the said County City and Liberty the Body of
Mrs Mc Carter< no role > of whom you shall have Notice to answer to all such
Matters and things as on his Majesty's behalf are on Oath objected
against her by Samuel Wells< no role > for unlawfully detaining one Shilling
his property grossly abusing and standing in Contempt of Magistracy
agst the Statute hereof fail not at your Peril Given under my hand
and Seal this eleventh day of March in the year of our Lord 1777

It appeared to your Committee by an Indorsement on the back of the
said Warrant that the person against whom the said Warrant was granted
was apprehended thereon and discharged Your Committee are of opinion
that the said Warrant is illegal and oppressive

The following attested Copy of a Joint Warrant of John Gretton< no role >
and Robert Elliot< no role > Esquires tested Middlesex and Westminster to wit
being laid before your Committee vizt
