It having been Ordered on County day of the last Session that the
consideration nomination and appointment of a fit and proper person
to be Goaler or keeper of the Goal called New Prison
in the Room and Stead
of the late Mr Wm Pentlow< no role >
then deceased be adjourned unto this day. The
Court proceeded to take the same into consideration and a Petition from
Mr James Elmore< no role >
setting forth his pretentions and praying to be appointed
to the Office of Keeper of New Prison
being read, the said James Elmore< no role >
being
nominated is unanimously appointed Goaler or Keeper of New Prison
by the Justices here present.
And it is ordered that the said James Elmore< no role >
do enter ito a Bond and
give Security in the penalties required of the late Keeper to such Justices as
the Court shall hereafter appoint for the true performance and execution of
such Matters and things as have usually been required done and performed
of and by the former Goalers of the said Prison before any deed of appointmt
be deliver'd to the said James Elmore< no role >
to be Goaler or Keeper of New Prison
as aforesaid
The Clerk of the Peace read a [..] Letter from his Grace the Duke of Northum-
berland Custos Rotulerum of the County recommending Mr James Elmore< no role >
to the choice of the Justices.
