by the said Committee with respect to the House of Correction in the
first part of their Report and to have the same surveyed by Workmen
and take an Estimate of the Expence such Accomodations will amount
to and to make their Report thereon at the next Session and the said
Commee are hereby empowered and desired to adjourn themselves
and meet at such times and as often as Occasion shall require
and to enquire into what Reparation shall he wanting at either
of the said Prisons and report the same as above and it is hereby
recommended and referred to the said Commee to inform themselves
what sort of Bedding is provided for the prisoners in the said Goals
as in the said Report is recommended And this Court being of
Opinion that it would be fit and proper that all the Prisoners in
the several Prisons of this County as well those in Execution for any
Trespass or Misdemeanor as those under Commitments for Want
of Sureties to Answer should be brought into the Court at the
Goal Delivery of every Session of the Peace & Oyer and Terminer
to the And that the Court may be satisfied from time to time that
such Prisoners in Execution be certainly continued during their
time And also that they be properly kept from hard usage to prevent
Reflection either to the Magistracy or Keepers of the said Prisons
It is therefore Ordered that the Keeper of the Goal of Newgate and
the Keepers of New Prison and House of Correction aforesaid Do
from henceforth at every Session of the Peace and Oyer and Terminer
to be held for this County have the several Prisoners remaining in
their Custody respectively in Execution or by Virtue of any Judgmt.
of the said Sessions for any Trespass on Misdemeanor before the
Court at the Goal Delivery for the Satisfaction of his Majestys
Justices as aforesaid And that their Causesof Commitmentbe
respectively inserted in the Calendars to be delivered at every Session
during such Imprisonment or the time expressed in the Judgement
or Order of Court And Lastly it is Ordered by this Court that
the Matter of Application of the Keeper of the House of Correction at
Clerkenwell to be allowed and reimbursed the Additional Window
Tax Assessed on the said House or Building be and the same
is hereby adjourned unto the next Session and that the said
Keeper do give the Court further particulars relating thereto.
