employed themselves and ten other Persons to Suppress a Gang
of Notorious wicked Fellows known by the Name of the Black
Boy Alley Gang that used to infest the publick Streets in the
Night time and committ abundance of Robberies & other
Injuries to his Majesty< no role > 's Subjects, And that the Petrs. at their
own Expence furnished themselves & Several other Persons with
proper Arms Suitable to the Occasion, and engaged the said
Gang, and at the hazard of their Lives apprehended Several
of them who have since been executed, And that the Petrs.
Spared no pains Time or Expence in the Pursuit and
apprehending Such Offenders till they were all entirely
Suppressed taken or Executed, And that the Petrs. being
considerably out of pocket in & about the Premisses, prayed
to be relieved therein, Whereupon It was by an Order
referred by the Court of the Same Sessions unto the said
five Justices or any three or more of them to enquire into
the Truth of the said matters, and to examine what services
had been done by the Petrs. or either of them in & concerning
the Premisses, And to inquire if they or either of them
had not received from his Majesty< no role > 's Treasury or otherwise
Some Satisfaction or Compensation for their services,
And if it should appear that Petrs. or either of them
had not received any such Satisfaction or Compensation
Then to consider if the Petrs. or either and which of them
doth defence to have any & what allowance for any service
or Services which should appear to have been done by the
Petrs. or either of them in & about the Premisses, And to
make their Report to the Court of Sessions of the Peace
for the said County And Whereas the sd. Jacob
Harvey,

have reported unto this Court That the said William Body< no role >
