disorders at Tottenham
Court Fair in the Parish
of St. Pancras .

At the General Session of the peace of our Sovereign Lord< no role >
the King holden for the County of Middx at Hicks hall in St.
John Street in the County aforesaid by Adjornment on Thursday
the tenth day of May in the Seventeenth year of the Reign of
our Sovereign Lord George the Second King of Great Britain

Hucks Thomas Burdus< no role > Henry Norris< no role > Samuel Tyssen Philip
Dyot Merry< no role > Teshmaker Peter Elers Samuel Tatem< no role > Nathaniel
Chandler Francis Hole Henry Broadhead< no role > Thomas Moore< no role > John
Poulson John Lawton< no role > Esquires and other their Fellows Justices
of our Said Lord the King assigned to keep the peace in the
County aforesaid and also to hear and determine divers Felonys
Trespasses and other Misdeeds committed in the Same County,

This Court being informed that Several Common Players of
Interludes have for Several years used and accustomed to assemble
and meet together at or near a certain place called Tattenhoe
alias Tattenhall alias Tottenham Court in the Parish of St.
Pancras in Holborn Division in this County and to Erect
Booths and Act and Exhibit Drolls and other Shows, and use
and exercise unlawfull Games and Plays whereby great
Numbers of his Majesty< no role > 's Subjects have been encouraged to
assemble and meet together, and to commit Riots and other
Misdemeanors in breach of his Majesty< no role > 's Peace, and to the
disturbance of the Neighbourhood of that place, And that
Some of the Said Players of Interludes and other evildisposed
disposed Persons are now Seeking out and Contracting for Ground
in or near the place aforesaid to build Booths for Shewing and
acting Such Plays and Drolls and other Shows and for carrying on
and encourageing of divers kinds of unlawfull Play and Gaming
And Whereas all Such Players of Interludes are deemed and
declared Rogues and Vagabonds, and the acting of Such Plays
Drolls and other Shows and the keeping of Publick Gaming Tables
or Gaming houses are contrary to the Laws and Statutes of this
Realm, and do manifestly and directly tend to the encouragement
of Vice and Immorality, and to the debauching and raining of
Servants Apprentices and others as well as to the disturbance
of the Publick Peace by occasioning Quarrells Riots Tumults
and other Disorders, For the preventing of which Mischiefs for
