Order for confirming
the Report of the
Committee concerning the
Middx part of Chertsea
Bridge and repairs
necessary to be done thereto
and for buying Timber,
and taking a Contract
from workmen, and for
paymt. of Money Etc.}

Whereas Robert Hucks< no role > Nathaniel Chandler< no role > Nicholas
Jeffreys Francis< no role > Hole Thomas Moore< no role > & Jacob Harvey< no role > Esquires
being a Quorum of the Committee of the Justices of the peace for
the County of Middx named in an Order of Sessions bearing
date the twenty third Day of February last have made their
Report in writing bearing date the fifth day of April instant
concerning their twice Meeting (pursuant to the Said Order) a
Committee of Justices of the peace for the County of Surry once
on the eighth Day of March last at Lawrences Coffee house in
Freemans Court Cornhill and a Second time on [..] the thirty first
Day of March aforesaid at Chertsea in the County of Surry
touching the repairing or new building a publick Bridge called
Chertsea Bridge , part of which Bridge is in the County of Middx
and the other part thereof is in the County of Surry, In which
Report it is mentioned that it was alledged at the Said
first Meeting that it was requisite that the top or Covering
of the Said Bridge Should be taken off before it could be
Judged whether it was necessary to repair or new build the
Said Bridge And that the Said Bridge Should be uncovered
before the 31st. day of March aforesaid, And both the
Committees agreed to meet on that day at Chertsea
concerning the Same, And Mr. Charles Marquand
Carpenter being present at the Said first Meeting proposed
to uncover the Middx part of the Said Bridge for a Sum not
exceeding £30. and was to Account for the work which he Should
do relating thereto, and to take less if the work Should not amount
to So great a Sum, but not to exceed to £30. And if Mr.
Marquand Should be employed to repair or new build the
Middx part of the Said Bridge that Sum was to be included
in and made part of the Contract, which proposal was thought
reasonable, And it appeareth by the Said Report that the Committee
for the County of Middx met a Committee of Justices of the peace
of the County of Surry, to wit, Thomas Woodford< no role > , John Smith< no role >
andBevois Esquire at Chertsea on the Said 31st. day
of March now last, And that after the Committee for Middx
