County of Middx assembled at this Special Sessions of the Peace
holden at Hicks Hall in St. John Street in and for the Said County on
Wednesday the ninth day of August in the twelfth Year of the
Reign of our Sovereign Lord< no role > George the Second King of Great
Britain Etc before Thomas Lane< no role > Esqr . Sr . John Austen< no role > Bart. Simon

assigned to keep the Peace in the County aforesaid and also
to hear and determine divers Felonies, Trespasses and
other Misdeeds comitted in the Same County.

Order made on reading
a Letter from the Lords
of the Privy Councill
concerning the taking
up Straggling Seamen
for the King's Service}

Whereas a Letter dated the thirty first day of July last
from the Lords of his Majesty< no role > 's most Honble. Privy Council to
His Grace< no role > Thomas Holles< no role > Duke of Newcastle Custos Rotulorum
of this County of Middx hath been transmitted by His Grace
unto His Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the peace for this County assembled
at this Special Sessions holden for this Purpose, By which Letter
the said Lords of the Privy Council do express That by His
Majesty' s Command they do thereby pray and require the said
Duke of Newcastle to call upon the Justices of the peace within
this County. And Strictly enjoin and require them to cause all
Straggling Seamen< no role > who are fit to Serve on Board His Majesty< no role > 's
Ships to be taken up; And sent by proper Persons from Place to
Place until they Shall be brought to the Clerks of the Cheque of
His Majesty< no role > 's Yards at Deptford , Woolwich , Chatham, Sheerness,
Portsmouth, or Plymouth, according as those Places Shall be
nearest to where Such Straggling Seamen shall be first taken
up, that So they may be put on board Such of His Majesty< no role > 's
Ships or Vessels as will be appointed to receive them, And the
Persons who Shall be entrusted with the conducting them are
to be paid Such Sums of Money as in the Said Letter are
Specified, His Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the Peace for this County
now assembled at the Special Sessions above [..] mentioned upon
reading the aforesaid Letter, Do Order that It be And His hereby
recomended unto His Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the peace for this
County residing in the respective Divisions in the Said
County forth with to hold petty Sessions or meet together from
time to time within their respective Divisions as often as
they Shall think proper. And to Order, transact, and do what
may best answer the intent of the aforesaid Letter from the
Lords of the Privy Council, For which purpose Copies of the
Said Letter and of this Order are to be Sent to every Division
in this County.
