of Alldermen of London
touching the Settleing of the
prices for carriage of goods

Whereas upon informaton given unto the Court of General Quarter
Sessions of the peace holden for the County of Middx by adjornmt. on
Thursday the ninth day of April in the third year of the reigne of
his present Matie King George the Second That Several comon
Waggoners & Carriers who live Several Miles distant from London
and bring goods to several places within the weekly Bills of Mortal [..]
in the said County of Middx and within the Jurisdicton of the said
Court had raised the prices for carriage of goods to excesive Rates
to the Detrim out of his Maties Subjects, It was by an Order then
made by the said Court recomended & referred unto William
Dobyus Nicholas Jeffreys< no role > Thomas Burdus< no role > Nathaniel Blackerby< no role >
Charles Bere< no role > Anthony Wroth< no role > Richard Newton< no role > & Richard Farwell< no role >
Esqrs . Justices of the peace for the said County or any three or more
of them as a Committee to meet together at such times and
places as they should appoint, And to inspect the Laws for
regulating and settleing the prices for the carriage of goods, And
to consider in what manner, and at what rates it is fit that the
prices for the carriage of goods brought by comon Waggoners
& Carriers to places within the weekly Bills of Mortality in the
County of Middx and within the Jurisdicton of the said Court
should be regulated & settled, And to make their Report in
writing touching the premisses to the Court of General or
Quarter Sessions of the peace for the said County soe as the
same might be regulated & settled according to Law at the then
next Easter Sessions of the peace for the said County, And whereas
five of the said Committee (to [..] witt) the said William Dobyns< no role >

< no role > Esqrs . have made their Report unto this Court that they
are of opinion That in order to settle the Rates & prices of Land
carriage of all goods whatsoever to be brought into any place or
places whatsoever within the County of Middx pursuant to the
Out of parliament of the third & fourth of William & Mary, Do
think if proper that some Gentleman in the Commission of the
peace for the said County be appointed to hold a conference
with the Lord Mayor & Court of Aldermen of London to know
their opinion, whether they intend to put the same Law in
execucon in the City of London and the Libertys thereof, which
if they should not think fit to doe, or to joyn with the Comittee
in settleing the said Rates & prices the Committee are very well
satisfyed the doing of it only for the County of Middx will be of
very little effort in order to redress the greivances complained
of a great Number of Carriers & Waggoners comeing to and
always residing within their Libertys, as well as in the
County of Middx, This Court upon reading of the said Report
and as consideracon thereof, Doth confirm the same, And
