Edward Bevan< no role > indicted with others for a
Conspiracy

Edward Bevan< no role > of Blue Anchor Alley Bunhill Row in the County
of Middlesex Carpenter one of the above named Defendants William Gilbert< no role > of Tash
Street Grays Inn Lane in the said County of Middlesex Cutler and John Hunter< no role >
Waddell of Castle Street Holborn London Gentleman severally make Oath and
say And first this Deponent Edward Bevan< no role > for himself saith that he appeared and
pleaded at the last General Session of Oyer and Terminer held in and for the City of
London and the other Defendants above named also at such Session as this Deponent
hath been informed and believes appeared and pleaded to the Indictment found against
them and this Deponent and other for a Conspiracy And this Deponent further saith that
Charles Jorden< no role > late of Vere Street Clare Markett in the said County of Middlesex
Carpenter is a material Witness for him this Deponent and the other Defendants above
named on their Tryal on the said Indictment as he this Deponent is advised and verily
believes and that he and also the other Defendants above named cannot safely proceed
to the Tryal thereof without the Testimony of the said Charles Jorden< no role > And this Deponent
William Gilbert< no role > for himself saith that on Tuesday the fourth day of December instant he
received a Subpoena and Copy in this Cause directed to the said Charles Jorden< no role > (who
this Deponent well knows) for the purpose of Subpoenaing him the said Charles
Jorden to appear and give Evidence on the part of the said Defendants at this present
Session of Oyer and Terminer in and for the City of London and this Deponent saith that
on the day the said Subpoena was so delivered to him as also on the Wednesday Thursday
Friday and Saturday following this Deponent made enquiry at the said Charles
Jorden's late Lodgings and other places and used due Diligence to find out where the
said Charles Jorden< no role > might be met with in order to have Subpoenaed him as aforesaid
but without effect this Deponent receiving for answer at several Places where he
