Oath and saith that he was summoned to attend to serve upon
the Jury at the Sessions holden at Guildhall
in and for the
City of London
in the Month of February last, And this
Deponent saith he was at that time much embarassed in
his Circumstances and unable to discharge several Debts
then owing by him and which his Creditors were very
pressing upon Deponent to pay, this Deponent saith he was
fearful of being arrested by one or other of his Creditors
if he appeared publicly and for that
[..] reason this Deponent
some time before the said Session went into the Country
but desired Mr. Footman a Neighbour to attend for
him to make an Appology for his Absence which as
Deponent hath been informed and believes he accordingly
did.
