me this 2nd. day of August 1787
Who being upon Oath say, and first the said John
Petty for himself saith that this morning as he was going from the Bole
and Tun in Fleet Street
to the White Horse Cellar
in
Piccadilly
he was obliged to pass thro' a Mob on the City
side of Temple Bar
when his right hand breeches pocket
was plundered of Six Guineas and Fifteen shillings and
his said Pocket turned outThat upon this Informants
saying "he was Robbed," his Money dropped amongst the
Croud and the Prisoner

standing near him) made offThat Informant followed
said Whitfield thro' the Croud and laid hold of him by
the Collar, at which time he saw the Guinea now produced
in one of his hands but which he cannot say and which Guinea
said Whitfield instantly dropped and this Informant
picked it upAnd this Informant further says that
from all the Circumstances taken together he doth verily
believe and Suspect that the Prisoner Whitfield is the
Person who robbed him of his Money as aforesaid

for himself saith that he was
standing upon the Carriage of Brook Watson Esqr
