This Court taking into Consideration the great Inconvenience it has
hitherto experienced during its sitting, from the Noise of Carts & Carriages
passing thro the old Bailey and being desirous to prevent the same
in future as much as may be Do hereby order and direct that
the Marshals Constables and all other Officers of this City whom it
doth or may concern, shall and do during the present and every
subsequent Session whilst the Court here shall be sitting, cause
the Bars now erected at each End of the Old Bailey , to be kept
shut and lockt against all Carts and Carriages whatsover
except those of persons officially [..] attending
this Court and of the several Inhabitants of The Old Bailey
And to prevent Impositions by Strangers It is further ordered
that before any Cart or Carriage shall be permitted to pass
thro' either of the said Bars the Drivers or persons belonging
to the same respectively shall inform the several Keepers of
the said Bars of the Name of the Inhabitants to or from
whose House such Drives or other person may demand to pass
with any Cart or Carriage And the said Marshals
Constables and other Officers aforesaid are hereby required
to observe and strictly enforce this present Order as
they will severally answer the Controry at this Peril
